Soluble in glycerol, pyridine, hot ethylene glycol, acetic acid, formaldehyde and the like organic solvates.

Weak alkalescent and can react with diversified acid to form melamine salt. hydrolyze in strong acid or alkali solution. When hydrolyzing, hydroxyl groups Substitutes amido gradually to form diamide cyanurate, amide cyanurate and cyanuric acid.
Melamine reacts with aldehyde to form addition compound, among which the reaction between melamine and formaldehyde solution is the most important.
